Reading about how hard it is to get replacement parts for Teslas, I thought I’d see what RockAuto has to offer, just out of curiosity.

W asn’t expecting much, but dang, I really wasn’t expecting to be able to fit so many vehicles in one screenshot. Before grabbing the above pic, I expanded the part categories for all 2018 model year Teslas. This includes parts for the Model 3, Model S, and Model X.

But hey, maybe they’re just too new yet. It’ll take time for more parts to become available. So let’s see what they’ve got for older Teslas. Here are all the different types of parts you can get for a 2008 Roadster:

Okay, well there were only about 2,450 Roadsters built , so let’s look at something with more substantial production numbers. How about a Model S? We’ve already looked at what’s available for 2018 models, so let’s see what’s available for 2012.

If you want to see more, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! is primed to take you directly to the Tesla section of the RockAuto catalog. Knock yourself out.

Maybe when battery tech gets insanely good, someone will make a drop-in retrofit package for older Teslas that massively extends range.

I’d bet it’ll be common. Electric cars have really great mod potential as tech improves.

Tesla is the Apple of cars and doesn’t want anybody working on them outside of Tesla facilities.

I'm hoping for something similar for the Nissan Leaf. There's enough of them out there, and I bet some enterprising Chinese company will do it.
